My dad loves muah chee (glutinous rice balls coated with peanut and sugar). I will dabao a packet for my dad whenever I passed by a muah chee stall.
Thus, I was intrigued when S told me that she found a simple recipe to make muah chee in 10 minutes. We tested the recipe, it worked and dad was very pleased with the outcome. We strongly recommend the recipe below to all muah chee fans!
Ingredients – Serves 4 (read: Similar to 3 packets of muah chee sold in pasar malam)
– 120g glutinous rice flour
– 180ml water
– 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
– 150g of peanut/sugar mix
We bought the glutinous rice flour and peanut/sugar mix in NTUC. Total cost =<SGD3
Mix the glutinous rice flour, water and oil in a microwavable bowl and microwave for 3.5 minutes. The outcome is a sticky white paste.
Pour the peanut/sugar mix into another bowl. Cut the sticky paste into small cubes and coat them well with the mix.
Tadahhh. Homemade muah chee ready to serve.
Try this recipe and be awed by the outcome. I’m not going to buy another packet of muah chee again – I will make them myself!
